Life and Dignity of the Human Person is the most basic principle of social justice. When people are not treated equally, then they are not receiving the dignity they deserve as a person made in God's image. There are many offenses against the dignity of life including abortion, euthanasia, and the death penalty. Any act that ends a person's life before God intends is considered murder, no matter the intention of the act. Euthanasia is sometimes seen as merciful, but it is still taking a oerson's life before their time.
Abortion is one of the most strongly protested against offenses against human dignity. Since the Roe v. Wade court decision legalizing abortion, about 55,772,015 abortions have taken place legally in the United States. These lives taken before they even had a chance to begin are an inexcusable symptom of the "culture of death" that most people now live in. God gives every child life for a reason, so it is wrong for humans to take those lives, |
